What is Reiki?
The term “reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” which means vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Some practitioners describe reiki as acupuncture without the needles. How a Reiki Session might look
While reiki can easily be done in just about any setting, a typical reiki session takes place in a relaxing environment. The session would begin with a brief discussion of your ailment or situation you hope to work on. After this discussion as the client you would make yourself comfortable by lying down fully clothed and face up. Together we would drop into a short meditation, then as the practitioner I would use various hand movements to lightly touch or hover over various parts of your body while you are face up and then face down. Throughout the session, I will focus specifically on your intent for healing.
Reiki is and always should be non-invasive, while reiki—like yoga and meditation—has roots in spiritual practices from long ago, modern reiki is not a religion. Catherine welcomes those from all walks of life and belief systems and uphold that receiving reiki is not intended to interfere with or change a client’s spiritual or religious beliefs.
