TRANSPERSONAL ART THERAPY

Hi, and welcome to Art Therapy part to my work and website. I am a trainee Transpersonal Arts Councillor, in my final year of studies at Tobias School of Art & Therapy, I have been working therapeutically with creativity for over 10 years.

I am often asked what Transpersonal Arts Counselling is?

In essence it is a form of therapy that uses artistic techniques to encourage an awareness of how one can transform self. Using art as the language to express one's thoughts, emotions and feelings, it is a way to explore one's inner world, merging psychology, creativity and spirituality in a therapeutic context - In its entirety, transpersonal arts counselling is a holistic approach that focuses on the health of the body, mind, emotions, soul and spirit, helping people to discover a more essential self that exists beyond the conditioned ego.

quick calming exercise:

Take a seat with feet on the earth or find a moment in stillness whilst standing, if possible and safe to do so soften or close down the eyes.

1.        Bring your awareness down to your feet, lifting your toes before spreading them as wide as possible onto the ground, noticing where your body meets the earth

2.        Inhaling draw the breath up from the earth through the feet into the whole body, focusing on an element you want to draw in

3.        Exhaling your breath work from the top (head) down out through your feet into earth, focusing on any elements you want to release

4.        Repeat 3-5 times

5. The next inhale is full, on the exhale open the mouth and take a big sigh making any sound that feels good and comfortable,

6. Repeat this up to 3 times then let the breath find its natural state.

WHO AM I?

I have been working holistically supporting others for the past 10 years.

I have always been fascinated by people, creativity, energetics, and the natural world, the ways in which we can enter into deeper relation to all of these, and how they support each other and alchemise together. I feel so honoured that my work draws on all of these allowing me to hold space for the healing and integration of parts in others.

I’m happiest in nature either in the mountains or by a large body of water, and for as long as I can remember movement and art have been my medicine and I love sharing this.

Surrounding myself with dynamic creative souls, co-creating magic to share with the world, alongside time alone relishing in the simplicity of life, ground, keep me balanced and are incredibly important to me. I am relearning that simple is better, that spaciousness and a slower pace of life allow me to create and experience more.

I believe all humans are creative and there are boundless ways to express ourselves through the arts, my hope is that more people will be able to access creative practices and resources as I believe this is a powerful way to nurture our essential nature and return to balance within ourselves.
